課程概述

This course is intended to provide a basic appreciation of the overall picture of the Austronesian language family for students (senior undergraduates and first-year graduates) who have some background knowledge of one or more Austronesian languages. 

課程目標
We will cover (1) an overview of the geographical, cultural and historical background to the Austronesian language family, and (2) THREE selected topics on Austronesian/Formosan morpho-syntax from a typological perspective, with particular emphasis on issues related to morphosyntax (reduplication/sa-/-an/nominalization/etc.), voice system, argument structure, numerals/quantifiers, deixis/space concept etc.

For non-linguistics major students/first-year graduate students:
1. Class participation (20%)
2. In-class oral reports (30%~35%): no oral report, no grade!
3. 3~4 assignments (45%~50%): including recorded lectures for flipped classroom
